Renowned Liszt scholar Alan Walker, FRSC (McMaster University), presents a lecture entitled “Franz Liszt: The cultural ambassador of the 19th century.”  His lecture is followed at 8 pm by a piano recital of Liszt’s music entitled “Liszt the Voyager,” performed by Juno-award winning concert pianist Valerie Tryon. This two-part special event is open to all Congress delegates and members of the community. Admission  $10.

This unique musical event marks International Liszt Year and the 200th anniversary of Franz Liszt’s birth, and is sponsored by the Hungarian Studies Association of Canada and the Canada-Hungary Educational Foundation, with support from the Canadian Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences, the University of New Brunswick, and St. Thomas University.
